Our Mission Statement

The New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE) is a multilingual and multicultural association fostering the awareness and appreciation of bilingualism and biculturalism as an integral part of cultural pluralism in our society. The goals of the association are:

To encourage the establishment, maintenance, and expansion of quality programs in bilingual education.
To promote bilingual education as an educational process by which success of students is enhanced through instruction in their native language while learning English.
To foster the recognition by the total community of the importance of bilingualism and its contributions toward a better understanding of the cultural and linguistic differences among people.

We cordially invite you to the thirty-third Annual Conference of the New York State Association for Bilingual Education. The conference will highlight current trends in bilingual education programs and equity for all learners. We look forward to having teachers, professors, administrators, paraprofessionals, parents, graduate students and publishers share their knowledge, experience and expertise with others in the field of bilingual education. We need your participation to make this the most motivating, interesting, challenging and professionally rewarding conference. Presentations in English or in languages other than English are welcomed.

The conference focuses on providing all students with an equitable education to ensure their success in our demanding society. I hope that you will take this opportunity to mark your calendar, submit a proposal to present and register for this magnificent event.

Student Biography

Daniela was born in Mexico and has been in the U.S. for 4 years. She is a quiet, hardworking bilingual person who is very proud of her heritage and family. She was raised in a very humble family that appreciates education and hard work. Daniela is a very determined young lady who does not let obstacles prevent her from reaching her goal-living the American dream. She aspires to become a prosecuting lawyer.

Daniela is gifted through her creative and artistic abilities. She is very caring and inquisitive. Daniela demonstrates her professionalism through selfless concern for others by helping her struggling peers with class work and personal issues. She is a peacemaker and wants the world to be ruled by peace, prosperity and music and not by violence.

I've known Daniela for two years and I must say that I feel lucky to know her. I am honored to have someone so gifted in my class.
